Nicholas Associates Group has backed a project to improve mental and physical wellbeing through a holistic approach of outdoor recreation and nature.

‘Mind Over Mountains’ provides residential weekends in UK mountain environments with guided hill-walking, mindfulness, professional NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) coaching, counselling and inspirational speakers. The programme aims to help participants re-balance mental health; generate new focus, restore resilience and find agency over their lives.

Over the August Bank Holiday a group of 23 adults took part in the latest ‘Mind Over Mountains’ weekend based at YHA Skiddaw House in the Lake District National Park, and walked to the popular summits of Blencathra and Skiddaw.

The concept has since been developed by adventurer, author and mental health fundraiser, Alex Staniforth, and NLP coach and international leadership consultant, Chris Spray, alongside a professional team of mountain leaders, counsellors and mindfulness coaches.

Group communications director at Nicholas Associates Group, Joanne Wilson, commented, “Our commitment to being best in class by operating ethically and with a culture of giving back to society means we maintain our strong family values and sense of making a difference.

“Our Mission is 'to enable people to be their best' and so supporting Mind Over Mountains aligns perfectly with our CSR ethos of 'Empowering People'.

“We choose our partners based on having synergy with our own core values and an emphasis on empowering those less advantaged than ourselves by providing them with the support to improve themselves.”
