26 cities now have more vacancies than jobseekers
26 cities across the UK, including Cambridge, Oxford and Manchester now have more vacancies than jobseekers, according to Adzuna.co.uk. London, however, wasn’t in the top ten, but does have 2.3 jobs per job seeker. Sunderland, in comparison, was the most competitive city, with 4 jobseekers chasing each vacancy.
Healthcare and IT made up to most vacancies – 69,135 and 43,475 respectively.
Andrew Hunter, co-founder of Adzuna, said, “While it’s disappointing to see a drop in vacancies as a result of coronavirus, we want jobseekers to know that there are still opportunities out there and most of them will play a crucial role in keeping the country and the economy running during this difficult time.
“We’re pleased to see vacancies outnumbering jobseekers in so many cities and hope this will boost morale for those who may be out of work. We want to arm jobseekers with the tools and data they need to find the right job and give them the best possible chance of finding work.”
