Recruiters eye tech and executive search sectors
Small to medium recruitment agencies are increasingly focused on the technology and executive search sectors, new research from recruitment software business Firefish reveals.
A survey of UK SME recruiters shows 35% of agencies plan to increase their focus on the tech sector, which has continued to grow in spite of, and even as a result of, the pandemic. A total of 32% of agencies are ramping up their executive search arm, while nearly half of all respondents plan to scale up their temp desks in response to changing job market conditions.
The survey shows a surprising level of optimism about the next 12 months in the face of job scarcity and sweeping redundancies nationwide. Almost half of agency leaders say they are optimistic or very optimistic about their outlook, compared to the 28% who reported being pessimistic or very pessimistic, with the remainder saying they are neutral.
Overall, 27% of agency owners predict sales growth of up to 25% in the next year, with 23% predicting a decrease in sales of up to 25%.
Firefish Software CEO Wendy McDougall says, while Covid-19 has hit the industry hard, recruiters are incredibly resilient. “I’m already seeing recovery plans gaining momentum and providing a return,” she says.
