New owners take charge at TEAM
Simon Garbett is retiring after 25 years at the helm of the UK’s largest network of independent recruiters, TEAM. The new owners Simon Bliss (chairman) and Ian Nash (non-executive) have exciting and ambitious plans for the recruitment membership and support organisation.
Bliss has been a TEAM member for nine years and is managing director of UK recruitment agency Principal People, which was acquired by Scandinavian recruiter Juhler Group in 2016. Bliss comments: “TEAM have been instrumental in the success of Principal People; its network of suppliers, support groups, and open culture for sharing of great ideas and working together helped us develop our business from a small team of 4 to 37 when we sold. I am really looking forward to supporting our members achieve their own goals through our guidance, training and supplier network.
“I would also like to thank Simon Garbett for allowing us this tremendous opportunity to give something back to the industry that I’ve worked in now for 10 years. Simon did such pioneering work in networking with the industry and succeeded in developing a unique organisation whose culture and ethics match our own. I’m pleased to report Simon Garbett will be supporting us at least till the end of 2021 as a consultant to guide and help me further with the development of TEAM.”
Nash, the chair of judges for TALiNT’s prestigious TIARA Recruitment Agency Awards, to be announced October 21, has enjoyed a long and successful career in recruitment. He joined Michael Page 30 years ago and rose to be CFO, before moving on to the same role with Robert Walters. Nash is now chair and non-executive to a portfolio of recruitment organisations in the UK and across the globe. “He is really looking forward to supporting the organisation with his vast experience in the industry and hopefully bringing in some new members from that portfolio too,” Bliss adds.
