Job Description

South Thames College Group are looking to appoint an energetic and talented Assistant Principal Student Services & Recruitment to work across the Group’s four Colleges. The STC Group was created in 2017 out of a merger of Kingston, Carshalton and South Thames Colleges. Led by Peter Mayhew-Smith, STCG has established itself as one of the top Colleges in London. National Achievement Rate Tables show that STCG has made impressive progress since its creation, and this was confirmed by Ofsted when they graded the Group as Good in February 2020. Within this role, you will be responsible for developing a strategy for a wide range of student support services and activities aimed at enriching and supporting learner development. Working with the Heads of Student Services you will ensure the review and development of Safeguarding and student disciplinary policies, procedures and activities. The post holder will also become the Group Designated Safeguarding Lead. The second key strand to this post is to grow a highly positive profile amongst prospective students, employers and other key stakeholders/partners. You will ensure that the Group has strong recruitment practices along with highly effective marketing leading to high levels of student recruitment across the Group. Your work in this field should be informed by robust market research identifying strategies, opportunities, and curriculum development. Allied to this you will lead on the development of admissions systems across the Group, ensuring good conversion rates and progression. In order to be successful in this role, you will possess a Degree or appropriate professional qualification and will have significant and successful experience of managing admissions and/or marketing at a senior level within a College or University setting.You will also have extensive experience of safeguarding including undertaking the designated safeguarding lead role.The role is cross Group, and you will be expected to attend all sites regularly, but the post will be based at Merton College.
