Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Social Worker to join a Recruitment and Assessment Team in Lancashire County Council. To provide a high quality and effective social work service to respond to the needs of children and their families within statutory guidelines. Experience completing Child and Family Assessments in a timely and comprehensive manner. Main duties: To undertake interviews, observation and gather information from children, families and other agencies To analyse, summarise and evaluate this information to provide a holistic assessment of a child’s needs To understand the context of child development, parenting capacity and family and environmental factors in which to establish the needs of an individual child To provide written and verbal reports which are concise, informative and based on analysis of complex evidence To review and reassess when necessary and be open to a change of view in response to new evidence To work closely with the therapist assigned to the social work unit and take advice in devising and implementing clinical interventions with children and their families, in various settings including family homes To carry out planned interventions using a range of tried and tested methodologies including systemic and social learning theory approaches To utilise problem solving skills within the context of a professional relationship with parents and their children To develop and manage Child Protection Plans for all children who require them in line with child protection procedures To provide and present concise reports about complex information in line with the requirements of the London Child Protection Procedures, and the court Essential skills and experience needed: Knowledge and understanding of child development, parenting capacity, environmental factors and risk and protective factors Knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance and the London Child Protection Procedures Knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies and commitment to the systemic approach and Social Learning Theory interventions Computer literacy and the skills necessary to work with information management systems and produce good quality data in a variety of formats Ability to prioritise tasks, manage own workload and be accountable for case work with children and families An understanding of relationship management and the capacity to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships Job requirements: Applicants must be Social Work qualified with a valid HCPC registration An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential Must have a minimum of 3 years recent experience working in an Assessment Team within a Local Authority Our promise to you: A highly experienced recruitment consultant who will provide you with regular updates about vacancies across the UK Career guidance alongside our free CV writing service Free yearly DBS disclosures Prompt and reliable payroll service Excellent aftercare service £100 referral fee – terms and conditions apply Due to a high volume of applications we receive, we are only able to respond to applicants who meet the needs of our client’s
