HMPYOI Drake Hall?s education department have a new opportunity for an experienced Student Support & Recruitment Worker to act as an ambassador, promoting education in order to maximise the recruitment of students onto learning programmes and supporting their learning goals within the prison. The successful candidate will provide excellent and precise guidance to our learners when they are selecting courses and support the allocation process by delivering a range of computer based and paper based initial / screening assessments to ensure suitable allocation of students. You will also be confident in promoting the benefits of education and be actively involved in all aspects of student recruitment and programme marketing, working in partnership with the prison and other agencies to develop and deliver support services for our learners. Location: HMPYOI Drake Hall Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year Salary: ?14,910 - ?19,525 per annum Closing Date: 2nd May 2018 As a successful candidate, you will: ? Good basic general education including GCSE (or) equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above. ? Proven experience of presenting to groups. ? Good IT skills with experience of word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, email and internet systems. ? Accuracy and precision in written presentation. ? Sensitive to the complexities of prisons or closed institutions and have the ability to work positively within the inherent restraints. ? A willingness and ability to assume responsibility and to see through detailed tasks. ? Good communication skills both written and verbal. ? Commitment to students and students? success. ? Able to motivate self and others. ? Have thinking ability: able to plan, communicate and problem solve effectively. ? Good organisational skills. ? Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. ? The requirement of this role is to work across the whole prison estate, on all wings where education is delivered. About HMPYOI Drake Hall? HMPYOI Drake Hall is a female closed prison. Education courses are designed to meet the needs of the female learners; to prepare them for employment upon release and based on Local Market Information on employability. These include Functional English & Maths Skills [Entry 1 to Level 2], ESOL, Catering Level 1 & 2, Business Admin, Information Advice and Guidance, Food Safety, Retail, Hairdressing Level 2 & 3 and Beauty Level 2. This list is not exhaustive and will be reviewed when required. During World War 2 Drake Hall was used to provide accommodation for female munitions workers, it started as a male open prison in the 1960s, but has been female since 1974. Most accommodation was re-constructed 1994/95. In March 2009, Drake Hall was re-designated from semi-open to Closed.
