Looking to get onto the property ladder? Fantastic… What’s your plan? It’s estimated that you need to be earning £41k per year to secure a mortgage on a semi-detached house in Truro for a first time buyer. With the average salary in Truro at just over £17k per year the prospects of achieving that look relatively slim. So again, what’s your plan? Recruitment is a lucrative business-to-business sales career which allows you to directly control how much you earn. Starting out as a trainee here, you should be set to earn between £25-30k including a base salary rise of at least £3k. The commission, however, is uncapped and many consultants have earned in excess of £45k in their first year. In your second year as a consultant, you will be set to earn £35-40k. Again, with hard work, there is no reason why this figure cannot be higher. You should have also hit your third if not fourth promotion by this point becoming a senior consultant or stepping up into a managerial role. Your third year here will see you earning £50-60k and, if you are not already, running your own team of 3-5 consultants. In your fourth year, you will be on track to earn in excess of £80k+ with many consultants earning well over 6 figures in this time frame. If you’re ambitious, there’s no reason why you cannot reach Director level within 5 years and be earning £150k+.
